German-Iranian trade is increasing
A monthly comparison shows a 36 percent increase in German exports to Iran
According to the Federal Statistical Office, the monthly development of German-Iranian trade in July shows a positive trend. German deliveries to Iran increased by 36 percent and Iranian deliveries to Germany by 26 percent compared to the previous month. The total German-Iranian trade volume rose by 35 percent between June and July.
Nevertheless, the overall development remains sobering. In the first seven months of the current year, German-Iranian trade fell by 49 percent year-on-year to 944 million euros. German exports to Iran amounted to 815 million euros in the period mentioned, which corresponds to a decline of 47 percent compared to the previous year. In July 2019 alone, German exports amounted to 161 million euros. This represents a decline of 31 percent compared to July last year.
Iranian exports to Germany also fell between January and July by 57 percent to 129 million euros. In July Iran's exports fell by 81 percent to 19 million euros.
